EUGENE, Ore. - The ongoing government shutdown is leaving many Oregonians without SNAP benefits this November.
According to the Trump administration, the cancellation was communicated to Gov. Tina Kotek's office on Monday. FOOD for Lane County is one of the organizations deeply affected by this change, as the nonprofit is already grappling with increased food costs and demand.
"We are going to do everything we can to make sure that we have food to serve. But again we are seeing cuts at the federal level for the food we provide and even the money we receive to store and transport the food," said Dawn Marie Woodward, events and media relations at Food for Lane County.
