Washington, DC — A robbery suspect is in custody after a violent daylight assault in Southeast DC, where a victim was attacked and robbed just after school let out on Monday afternoon.

The incident unfolded around 3:33 p.m. on Monday in the 100 block of 49th Street, Southeast, when an individual was assaulted and had their belongings forcibly taken. Officers from the Sixth District quickly responded to the area and began canvassing the neighborhood.

While searching nearby streets, police spotted someone matching the suspect description provided by witnesses. The individual was stopped, positively identified by the victim, and immediately taken into custody without further incident.
