DUNEDIN, Fla. (WFLA) — The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said two teenagers were involved in a crash in Dunedin early Wednesday morning.
At around 7:15 a.m., the 15-year-old boy was riding his bike north on New York Avenue, approaching the intersection with Main Street.
A 16-year-old was driving a Hyundai Elantra on Main Street, also approaching the intersection.
PCSO said the cyclist failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and traveled into the path of the Hyundai, resulting in a collision.
The teen was not wearing a helmet, police said, and was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver was uninjured and cooperated with deputies, and police said they don't believe speed or impairment played a role in the crash.
