Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie received flak for its underwhelming content. The film features Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan in a special cameo. Aamir had earlier mentioned that he acted in the film out of respect for Rajinikanth and that he wasn’t even aware of the full story.

After the film’s OTT debut, a fake article went viral on social media claiming that Aamir was disappointed with the way Lokesh Kanagaraj designed his role and felt it had no real purpose.
