The Santa Maria Police Department reported that a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a motorcycle while crossing Broadway on Saturday.

At approximately 8:35 p.m., on Oct. 18, SMPD along with the Santa Maria Fire Department and American Medical Response, responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Broadway and Williams Street.

Upon arrival, officers located both a motorcyclist and a pedestrian lying in the roadway with significant injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing eastbound in the north crosswalk of Williams Street when he was struck by a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Broadway in the number one lane.

The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown to the roadway and the motorcyclist to be ejected from his motorcycle.
