GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - A Greenville mom and son are voicing concerns after their doorbell video captured the moment a driver illegally passed a stopped school bus in front of their home while the son was trying to board.
Every morning, mother Ashley Gerhard watches her 11-year-old son, Mason Knopp, get on the bus to C.M. Eppes Middle School because he has to cross the road.
“Usually, I tell him to wait for the bus to open and wait for the stop sign to come out,” Gerhard said.
On her Ring camera on Tuesday, the bus was coming to a stop, with its stop sign extended. Knopp was about to walk toward it, but he says he noticed a car that made him keep his feet on the curb.
“It was going too fast, and if I had stepped out, it would have hit me,” Knopp said.
