ACCORD, N.Y. — The Mid-Hudson Conference men’s championship trophy will return to the SUNY Ulster campus after the Senators beat defending champion SUNY Westchester Community College 1-0 in the title game at Rondout Valley High on Tuesday, Oct. 21.

Freshman Nick Thomaz took a pass from freshman Pat Fornelos and curled a perfect shot to the far corner past Vikings goalie Miguel Diaz to give the Senators (11-2-2) a 1-0 lead with six minutes remaining.

Though SUNY Westchester (9-3-2) tried to push numbers forward, SUNY Ulster was able to win the game and clinch its fourth Mid-Hudson Conference title in the past five years.

“I’m so proud of this team,” SUNY Ulster coach Jamal Lis-Simmons said. “Not just because we won, but because of how we played and how we fought for each other.”
