CLAY COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) -Visiting the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, five students from the Notre Dame Law School are volunteering their time to make a difference in the region.

“They do this on a yearly basis for several years now. It’s really interesting to get the perspective of students who have never lived in this part of the country,” said AppalRed Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Director, Charnel Burton.

Notre Dame and AppalRed Legal Aid partner to let students get a glimpse into the law industry.

This week, the students have assisted in the Pro Se Family clinics, helping folks fill out and understand paperwork ad court documents.

“Getting to see court and getting to see both aspects from filling out the forms to the different proceedings has definitely been eye opening,” student Kaylie Ba
