The Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company secured a $583,000 grant to cover organizational initiatives over the next four years, the company announced on its Facebook page.

The company received additional funds from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant, which supplements the company’s current SAFER grant with two years remaining.

The company said $150,000 would be used for training, $120,000 would be used of junior firefighter training, $88,000 for member wellness and $225,000 will be used for secondary education tuition reimbursement.

The $225,000 allocation continues the tuition reimbursement program already in place. Firefighters under the program receive $5,000 per semester.
