JEFFERSON, Ohio (WOIO) - A recent saga involving the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Department has taken a significant turn, as nine firefighters who previously resigned have been reinstated. The decision was made during a contentious city council meeting.
The controversy began earlier this month when the new Fire Chief requested the resignations of three long-term captains, collectively boasting 55 and a half years of service.
This move led to the sudden resignation of nine firefighters in protest.
At Monday night’s City Council meeting, a motion was successfully passed by all city council members to reinstate all nine firefighters to their previous roles.
Despite their return, the firefighters expressed their deep dissatisfaction with how the situation unfolded.
