The mother of a baby who was so big at birth that he broke a US hospital's long-standing record has revealed new details about his birth.

Shelby Martin became a celebrity after it was revealed she gave birth to a baby weighing more than 5.8 kilograms (12 pounds 14 ounces).

TriStar Centennial Women's Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, took to Instagram to announce the birth of Cassian, who was the largest baby born at the hospital in three years.

Now Martin, 30, has revealed new details about Cassian's birth in an interview with People .

Cassian is Martin's fourth child with partner Joshua Thomas and followed a previous pregnancy loss.

She told the outlet she had her "perfect birth plan" ready to go, which included a vaginal delivery like her previous births
