A nearly decade-long initiative by the city of Solon will finally be ready for the public when the first phase of the Solon to Chagrin Falls Trail officially opens on Oct. 31.
The 10-foot wide paved all-purpose trail runs from SOM Center Road in Solon’s commercial area downtown, along the former Wheeling and Lake Erie Railroad Company corridor and ends at the first bridge over the Aurora Branch of the Chagrin River, which is just before the city’s boundary line with Bentleyville.
“We’re extremely excited about the opening,” Solon Mayor Eddy Kraus told the Cleveland Jewish News. “We started this eight years ago, so it’s been a long time coming with everything we went through to try and get the design right and get the Cleveland Metroparks to build it. Our residents are super excited.”
