WASHINGTON >> The Trump administration has expanded its campaign of summarily killing people aboard boats suspected of smuggling drugs to a new geographic theater, attacking a vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean for the first time, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said today.

The United States military strike was the eighth known boat attack that U.S. Special Operations forces have conducted since the operation began in early September, and brought the officially acknowledged death toll to 34. But the previous seven attacks all took place in the Caribbean Sea.
