The San Francisco 49ers are astonishingly atop the NFC West with a 5-2 record. Having been without starting quarterback Brock Purdy the majority of the season and losing elite defensive cornerstones Nick Bosa and Fred Warner to season-ending injuries, what the 49ers have accomplished through seven weeks cannot be understated.

However, as the weeks pass, the injuries continue to accumulate and the margin for error becomes increasingly narrow. This time, edge-rusher Bryce Huff is set to miss a few weeks after suffering a hamstring strain, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. While San Francisco will play Week 8 without the veteran, it might be time for the front office to fork over a few draft picks and replenish their depleted defense ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline.
