FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) – This morning, first lady Britainy Beshear presented a proclamation from the governor making the designation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

WKYT reports the event took place at the Capitol Education Center in Frankfort.

The event also included a special ceremony to remember Kentuckians lost to intimate partner homicide over the past year.

Olivia Spradlin from ZeroV senior leadership says their team is always there to help victims.

The first lady also stated in a post on X on Wednesday that “there is strength and power in gathering to acknowledge our domestic violence shelters and the work they do to help survivors heal as well as remembering those who lost their lives to domestic violence.
