RICHMOND, Va. (WWBT) - Amid the ongoing government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is warning state agencies that there will be no funding for SNAP or EBT benefits in November.
Several areas around Central Virginia, including Louisa and Powhatan, have posted statements on social media warning SNAP recipients about this latest development.
“Due to the federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has notified the Commonwealth of Virginia that November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits cannot be issued at this time,” said Louisa County in a post on Wednesday. “This is a nationwide issue impacting all SNAP households and cannot be appealed.”
