ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Traffic is slowly getting back to normal on Interstate 75 in Clayton County after being shut down for hours early Wednesday morning due to road damage.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) issued a traffic alert around 2:30 a.m. stating that all northbound lanes before State Route 54/Jonesboro Road (Exit 233) were blocked due to a large pothole.
“Out of an abundance of caution we shut down all the lanes to make sure that we had bridge inspectors out there to determine that the bridge was structurally sound,” Dale said.
GDOT tells Atlanta News First that crews are working to patch the damaged section and will reopen all lanes once materials are set. After that, they will inspect for any additional repairs.
