A 42-year-old Springfield man died the morning of Oct. 18 after he was struck by a motorcycle on I-5 at milepost 234 near Know Butte Road in Linn County.
The crash occurred at 11:40 a.m., according to Oregon State Police officials. A preliminary investigation indicated a Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by David Moore, 42, of Springfield, was driving northbound when he lost control while slowing for traffic.
Moore went down with his motorcycle in the travel lane and a northbound Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by 60-year-old Jan Allen Hicks Sr. of Eugene, was unable to avoid the collision and struck Moore.
Moore was declared dead after being transported to a local hospital, OSP officials said.
Hicks Sr. was uninjured. I-5 was impacted for approximately 1 hour during an on-scene
