Man convicted of raping woman with intellectual disability

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - A Lynchburg jury has convicted a man who had been charged with sexually assaulting a woman with an intellectual disability.

October 21, 2025, 50-year-old Thomas Seabolt was found guilty of one count of rape and one count of forcible sodomy.

Sentencing is scheduled for March of 2026. Seabolt faces prison time ranging from five years to life.

March 8, 2023, Lynchburg Police were called to Lynchburg General Hospital about a reported sexual assault. They spoke to the victim, who reported that four days earlier, she was at a Family Dollar store waiting for a cab to pick her up.
