KIMBERLY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) —For the first time, vetted staff members in the Kimberly School District are now able to carry concealed firearms while on school property.
According to Superintendent Luke Schroeder, district leaders approved the policy a year ago and are now implementing it.
“These people are willing to put their life on the line for students,” Schroeder said.
“The credit needs to go to Xavier Charter School because we modeled our policy after their policy that I think they established almost 10 years ago,” he said.
Schroeder said the administration and local police department, which initially opposed the policy, changed their stance after reviewing statistics on school shooting response times.
