LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- It has been nearly a week since two students were hit by a car near Canyon Springs High School. The family of one of the students is speaking out, urging school and city officials to do more to protect kids trying to get to and from school.
The two students were hit Thursday morning while walking to school along the stretch of Alexander Road. The incident left the families shaken and calling for stronger safety measures to protect kids in this area.
“I got a call that my niece just got ran over at school,” Novis Escalante said. “It’s a call that no one should receive, especially in a school area.”
“I feel like this incident could’ve definitely been prevented. More so because there are no crosswalks here,” Escalante said.
