PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - A legal battle between Oregon and the Trump administration over National Guard deployment is progressing through multiple courts with several timelines running simultaneously.
The legal battle started Sept. 28 when Oregon and Portland sued the Trump administration, calling the federalization of National Guard soldiers illegal.
Three pathways are now progressing at the same time. The underlying lawsuit is moving forward and is scheduled for a three-day trial starting Oct. 29.
Judge Karin Immergut issued two temporary restraining orders. The initial one barred the federal deployment of Oregon National Guard members to Portland. The second barred Trump from deploying any National Guard members to Oregon.
