OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A 13-year-old girl was hit by a car while crossing the street at a crosswalk in Jamestown Township.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash at 2:58 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, according to a news release from the office.

Deputies suspect that a 2015 Honda Civic, driven by a 35-year-old female from Wyoming, was traveling north on 24th Avenue when it came to a stop at the Riley Street stop sign.

The pedestrian entered the crosswalk on the north side of the street to cross 24th Avenue. The Civic accelerated north through the intersection, hitting the 13-year-old girl.

She was transported in serious condition to a local hospital. The driver was not injured in the crash.
