A watchdog has criticised a police force for allowing a convicted sex offender to leave a 'murder' scene. Avon and Somerset Police have been slammed for an 'unacceptable' response in dealing with the murder of Kelly Faiers, 61, who was found dead at the home of Richard Scatchard, 70. Scatchard, from Thelwall, Cheshire, was initially questioned by police on the scene after he called the ambulance, but when they came back to interview him further, he had already fled. The 70-year-old's body was later found in a caravan after months of searching by police. Kelly's family have voiced their frustration at the handling of the case, saying that they felt 'angry and let down' by police for not properly quizzing him before he went missing.
