Frost forms on clear, windless nights when temperatures sink close to freezing, KWQC First Alert Meteorologist Cyle Dickens said.
The temperature and dew point must meet, Dickens said, which means the air is fully saturated. Frost begins to form around sunrise as the air temperature starts to rise and when the ground temperature is near freezing.
