In a field of 64 programs, the current top-three college hockey teams reside in Michigan. And though the Mitten State wasn’t always known as the hub of college hockey, it will host the first contest of the season between two of these teams with the No. 3 Michigan hockey team facing No. 2 Western Michigan this week.

The Wolverines will attempt to hold onto one of two unbeaten records left in Division I hockey while the Broncos continue to ride the high of their national championship. With each team hosting a game in their respective barns, it’s truly anyone’s series to take.
