Out of the No. 7 Michigan men’s basketball team’s eight new faces, three of them were expected to play at least some minutes as prototypical fives — sophomore forward Morez Johnson Jr. and centers junior Aday Mara and freshman Malick Kordel.

All three of these players, however, are expected to play different roles for the Wolverines.

Johnson sits at an athletic 6-foot-9 and is skilled enough to bring the ball up the floor if needed while taking hits from even bigger centers on the defensive side. On the other hand, Mara is a stringy 7-foot-3 certainly tall enough that his presence down low removes close buckets and makes him an easy lob target.
