New Jersey Senator Cory Booker joined Eyewitness News on "The Countdown" Wednesday night, discussing a range of topics including the government shutdown and the gubernatorial race.

The shutdown, on Day 22, is now the second longest in U.S. history.

SNAP benefits, which serves roughly 42 million low-income Americans could be cut. Meanwhile, government employees will not receive their first full paycheck on Friday if this continues.

We asked Booker if he was concerned that Democrats will start getting the blame for this.

The senator also weighed in on the race for New Jersey governor between Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli.
