A proposal to reduce state government funds as a means of providing property tax relief for South Dakota homeowners received the OK from an ad hoc task force.
The state Comprehensive Property Tax Task Force convened Oct. 22 for its last of eight meetings to weigh more than a dozen property tax relief proposals brought by state lawmakers.
Among those proposals included a recommendation to request Gov. Larry Rhoden's administration to cut state government spending by 5% — about $120 million.
