PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- In 1985, Kim Shuler moved away from Detroit and into Peoria, where she met her future husband, Ben Shuler.
They fell in love, got married, and lived 28 wonderful years together. However, their time with each other was abruptly cut short, when Ben was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer, that killed him less than a month after diagnosis.
In his last days of life, he was taken care of at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home. Kim said not only did Ben received the best care, but so did she.
"What I received was the most compassionate care on every level, from a medical level to an emotional level to a spiritual level," she said.
