HARTFORD, Conn. — FOX61, in partnership with United Way, is singing praise to unsung heroes for their work across the Nutmeg State.

The third annual ImpaCT Awards ceremony was held Wednesday at Hartford Marriott Downtown to celebrate and honor the people and groups who helped improve healthcare, housing, financial empowerment and education across Connecticut.

“The people in this room are a who’s who of who’s helping in Connecticut, and I am honored to be among you,” said FOX61 Anchor Tim Lammers.

Among the crowd were nine heroes now celebrated for their dedication to helping underserved communities across the state.

“119,000 kids across the state of Connecticut are disconnected, or at risk of being disconnected, and that’s 53% of the city of Hartford," said Hartford Mayor Arunan Aru
