Aussie shoppers are forking out almost 40 per cent extra when purchasing groceries through delivery apps, fresh research has found.
Consumer advocacy group CHOICE found Aussies using delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber Eats and Milkrun were paying a premium for the services - not including the delivery fee.
The investigation found individual items were on average about 11 per cent more expensive when purchased through a third-party delivery service.
Adding delivery fees meant the total increase was 39 per cent compared to in-store shopping.
The item with the largest mark-up was a 42 per cent increase on Coles ice cream cone four-packs when ordered through Uber Eats or DoorDash.
