HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for all leeward areas that will go into effect on Friday morning and will last until Saturday afternoon.
Sustained winds between 15 to 25 miles per hour are expected throughout Friday and Saturday. Wind gusts may climb even as high as 35 miles per hour and above.
A dry pocket of air is also expected to move over the state, lowering the relative humidity to as low as 40 to 45 percent.
Under these conditions, any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
