LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The North Las Vegas Police Department posted on social media about an officer rescuing a puppy after it was exposed to fentanyl.

According to police, a small puppy accidentally inhaled the substance while in a room containing fentanyl. An officer noticed signs of an overdose.

Police said Officer Sanders administered Narcan and revived the puppy before it was too late.

“Thanks to his quick thinking and calm under pressure, the pup is alive today,” police said. “Our Animal Protection Officers responded immediately and transported the puppy to a nearby animal hospital for further care.”

Police said the incident is a reminder of fentanyl dangers and the compassion of North Las Vegas police officers.
