Wild talk of sex parties, polyamorous relationships and leering co-workers has emerged from a Perth office, leading to a Fair Work Commission dismissal ruling.
A former Mettler-Toledo employee has lost his bid for an unfair dismissal remedy after the Fair Work Commission found he engaged in repeated sexual harassment at the workplace despite the company’s investigation being described as “shambolic”.
Evan-Ashley Solace, a former scheduling assistant, argued that his termination was unfair, claiming the allegations were untrue and the investigation into his conduct was flawed.
Commissioner Pearl Lim, delivering the decision in Perth on October 14, acknowledged significant procedural errors but ruled that the misconduct itself provided a “valid reason for Mr Solace’s dismissal”.
