Srinagar- National Conference (NC) and Congress legislators on Thursday held a silent protest outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, demanding the release of Doda MLA Mehraj Malik, who is currently detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
The lawmakers and supporters gathered outside the Assembly complex holding placards reading “Free Mehraj Malik” and “Restore Doda’s Representation.” They observed a few minutes of silence before addressing the media.
NC Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq called Malik’s detention “unjustified” and said it deprived the people of Doda of their rightful representation in the Assembly. “We demand the unconditional release of Mehraj Malik. His detention under PSA is undemocratic and undermines the public mandate,” he said.
