New Delhi: Mohammed Ahmed, an Indian resident, travelled from Telangana to Russia in April 2025, intending to find employment in the construction sector. After reaching Russia, Ahmed was trapped in the middle of the Russia-Ukraine war and was reportedly forced to be on the front line, as he was defrauded by his job agent within weeks of his arrival.

Ahmed’s wife, Afsha Begum, a Hyderabad resident, now appealed to the Foreign Ministry to evacuate her husband from Russia, as he is forced into combat training to take part in the Russia-Ukraine war.

Afsha wrote a letter to the Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and accused a Mumbai-based consultancy firm, which offered a job in Russia to her husband.

She also confirmed that Ahmed left India in April 2025 and was out of work for nearly a month,
