JONESBORO, La. -- The man killed in a plane crash Tuesday in Jackson Parish has been identified.
Rodney Cooper died at the scene after his Cirrus SR22 single engine airplane went down a few miles south of the Ruston Regional Airport.
Cooper was an executive director for LaSalle Corrections and a private jail representative for the Texas Jail Association, according to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. LaSalle, which owns and operates prisons in several North Louisiana parishes, has an office Ruston. Cooper retired from TDCJ in 2009 after 30 years of service.
Cooper, of Huntsville, Texas, took off from the airport there and flew a direct path to Ruston. Several miles south of the airport, however, his flight path shows the plane making several loops before it crashed in a heavily
