A 40-year-old man from Kerala who was allegedly transporting cattle illegally was shot at by the police in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district on Wednesday while attempting to escape, officials said.
The police identified the accused as Abdullah, who hails from Kasaragod, and said that he was allegedly transporting 12 cattle in an Eicher vehicle from Hassan to Kerala with an accomplice
The incident occurred near Puttur, near Bellichadavu in Ishwaramangala on the Karnataka-Kerala border. When the Puttur Rural police signalled the duo to stop, Abdullah allegedly ignored the order, triggering a 10-km chase.
According to the police, Abdullah deliberately rammed the Eicher vehicle into the police jeep. In response, a police sub-inspector fired two rounds—one struck the vehicle while the ot
