An 18-year-old Indian expatriate student passed away in Dubai after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. A first-year BBA Marketing student at Middlesex University Dubai, Vaishnav Krishnakumar was a UAE Golden Visa recipient.

Vaishnav, who graduated from GEMS Our Own Indian School in the 2024–25 batch, reportedly collapsed during Diwali celebrations at Dubai International Academic City on October 21. He was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

His school issued a circular expressing “deep sorrow" at the loss of its former Head of School Council, announcing that events such as Pink Day and the Family First Carnival would be rescheduled in his memory.
