PASADENA, Calif. (KABC) -- About 100 firefighters battled a four-alarm fire at a General Motors facility in Pasadena Wednesday evening, a city spokesperson said.
The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Sierra Madre Villa Avenue, near Orange Grove and Rosemead boulevards, prompting the response of fire and hazmat crews to the location, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.
City spokesperson Lisa Derderian said crews spent more than an hour searching for the source of the "very stubborn" blaze. A fire captain sent out a mayday call but was rescued and is expected to be fine, according to Derderian.
The facility houses General Motors' Advanced Design Center, where many state-of-the-art and industry-leading automotive design concepts are born.
