New Delhi: Volkswagen has stopped making one of Europe’s best-selling cars, the Golf, due to a shortage of microchips. The pause in production was announced just hours after the company warned its workers about possible disruptions. The issue began after microchip deliveries from the Dutch company Nexperia were suddenly cut off.
As a result, the halt is also expected to affect other models made at Volkswagen’s main Wolfsburg plant including the Tiguan, Touran, and Tayron. However, the company has not said how long the stoppage will last.
