NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - Months after renewing its services, the Newton Falls Police Department is planning for two full time employees at the station.

As it stands, the department is operating with 18 part-time employees. The only full time employee is John Barco, the Police Chief.

The police department offers around-the-clock service.

Councilmembers discussed the decision at the 2026 budget meeting. While some council members said the change is important for the department, others felt the increase is more than expected.

Barco said it's been busy at the station. He feels adding the full time positions will help reduce stress.
