The Weir girls soccer team netted its first goal 63 seconds into its match against Magnolia, and the second-seeded Red Riders scored their 10th less than three minutes into the second half to defeat the seventh-seeded Blue Eagles, 10-0, via mercy rule in an West Virginia Class AA-A Region 1 Quarterfinal Wednesday night up at Jimmy Carey Stadium.

“It was cold, windy and a little sprinkly,” Weir (9-7-3) head coach Jeremy Angelo said. “For the girls, yeah, it was a good night. We had opportunities, and we were able to finish.
