Two women have been caught by police after customs officials uncovered 68 live tortoises strapped to their legs beneath their skirts. ‌

Officers became suspicious when they spotted the duo "walking with stiff steps." ‌

They were clocked as they went through the 'nothing to declare' channel at a port. One woman was seen sporting a baggy skirt and moving in an odd manner. When officers pulled her aside for a search, they discovered 39 live tortoises bound to her thighs with black tights. ‌
