MACON, Ga. — A 24-year-old Macon man, who was shot on July 4 , died early Thursday morning in Macon.

According to the Bibb County Coroner, Leon Jones, Contrell Dixon died just before 12:30 a.m.

Dixon was at the Atrium Health Navicent Hospice Pine Pointe, according to Jones.

He died from injuries after being shot on Sparkle Avenue, back in July.

At the time of the shooting, deputies arrived and found him. Then, they rushed him to the hospital and back then, he was in "critical, but stable condition."

A week later, two people were arrested in connection to shooting Dixon .

Deputies found Dontavis Jackson, 18, and Michael Burney, 24 during a traffic stop. Jackson and a third person ran away, but they were able to arrest Burney without any problems.
