WATERTOWN — Works by contemporary artist Jorge “Vascano” Vasquez Elescano will be featured in Taft’s Potter Gallery until December 20. Vascano will be on site for a reception in the gallery from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, November 7.

Potter Gallery is located on the Taft School Campus, 110 Woodbury Road, in Watertown, Connecticut. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. when school is in session. The event is free and open to the public.

Vascano’s work includes sculptures, drawings, and carvings. All reflect the influence of his childhood in the Peruvian Amazon. And while each is “coated by elaborate shapes and patterns,” at their core, they are “simply a vehicle into our inner complex selves through the exploration of material,” said Vascano.
