SPCA officials filed charges on Wednesday against a Darby Township man they say is responsible for more than six dozen cats and kittens found living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions, including six felines that died.

Casey E. Bonnell, 33 of the 1000 block of Pine Road was charged with six counts of aggravated cruelty to animals resulting in serious bodily injury or death as well as hundreds of counts of neglect of shelter, sustenance, water, vet care and vaccination from rabies.

In an information release, Brandywine Valley SPCA said the shelter was alerted earlier this month by Darby Township police to respond to a condemned home with cats living inside.

BVSPCA Humane Law Enforcement Officers visited and rescued cats and kittens from the home over the course of three weeks.
