A third-party investigation into the termination of Eastpointe Human Resource Manager Vicky Brooks last month has determined no wrongdoing on the part of interim City Manager Elke Doom.
According to Eastpointe City Attorney Richard Albright, a complaint filed against Doom by Brooks was “thoroughly investigated” by a third party.
“The investigation has been completed and it was determined there were no violations of state or federal laws,” Albright said.
At its Sept. 2 meeting, the Eastpointe City Council approved a budget amendment that reduced Brooks’ annual salary by $25,000. Brooks said she was laid off the following day.
The situation is also being investigated by the Michigan Department of Civil Rights.
Brooks alleged she was the target of discrimination and retaliation by Doom.
