Brigitte Bardot is alive, thank you very much.

Amid online reports that the French actress, 91, had died, Bardot took to social media to set the record straight.

“I don't know which fool spread this fake news tonight about my passing,” she wrote, via translation, on X Oct. 22. “But rest assured that I'm doing well and have no intention of taking my final bow.”

She concluded with, “A word to the wise.”

Bardot’s clarification comes shortly after French newspaper Var-Matin confirmed on Oct. 17 that the And God Created Woman star had been recovering for weeks at a private hospital in the southeastern city of Toulon, France, after a surgery.

The outlet reported that Bardot underwent surgery due to a battle with a “serious illness,” sharing her condition was “worrying.”
